Copyright and Trademark Policy (DMCA)

Effective October 7, 2026

This policy applies to the BizMeet app and to https://bizmeetapp.org. Both are run by BizMeet LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company ("BizMeet", "we", "us"). It explains how we protect our own name and content, and how you can tell us when something on BizMeet uses your copyright, your trademark, your name or your photo without permission.

This policy is part of our Terms of Service and works alongside our Community Guidelines. We respond to copyright notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. 512.

1. Ownership of BizMeet materials and marks

BizMeet™ and the BizMeet logo are trademarks of BizMeet LLC. They are not federally registered, so we use the ™ symbol rather than ®.

The BizMeet app and website, including their design, text, graphics and software, are protected by copyright. Copyright © 2026 BizMeet LLC. All rights reserved. Some parts of the app and website belong to others and are used under license, such as open-source software, fonts and licensed stock images. Those parts remain subject to their owners' rights and license terms. Content that members add is covered in section 2.

You may not use the BizMeet name, logo or content without our written permission. This includes using them in another app or website, in a domain name or social media handle, in ads, or in any way that suggests we sponsor or endorse you. To ask for permission, email contact@bizmeetapp.org.

No false links to BizMeet. Members may not use the BizMeet name or logo as part of a business name or email address, or in a job post, pitch or investment offer in a way that suggests BizMeet is involved. They also may not claim that BizMeet employs them, hires or recruits for them, invests in them, or has checked or endorses them or their offer. You may say that you have the verified badge, but do not describe it as an endorsement or as a check of your identity, employer or background. BizMeet does not offer jobs or investments, as our Terms of Service explain.

This does not stop you from using the BizMeet name to refer to our app, for example in a review, in news or commentary, or when telling others you use BizMeet or met someone on BizMeet, as long as you do not suggest that we sponsor or endorse you.

This page names our main marks, but it is not a complete list. If we leave a name, logo or other material off this page, we do not give up any rights in it.

2. Members' content

As between you and BizMeet, you keep whatever rights you have in the content you add, such as your photos, profile statements, request notes and messages. BizMeet does not claim ownership of it. You give BizMeet a limited license to host, show and keep copies of that content as needed to run the app, keep members safe and meet legal duties. The Terms of Service set out the exact scope of that license.

You may only add content that you created or have the right to use. For example:

If you break these rules, we may remove the content and, in some cases, your account.

Ideas and pitches

Copyright protects the way something is expressed, such as the words of a pitch or plan you wrote, images or code. It does not protect the idea, business concept or method behind them. A copyright notice under this policy cannot stop another member from using an idea you discussed with them. If you need protection before you share an idea, ask the other member to sign a nondisclosure agreement first, as section 2 of our Terms of Service explains under "Ideas you share".

5. What we do with a notice

When we receive a notice that includes the required elements, we promptly remove the material or disable access to it. Where we can, we keep a private copy of what we removed so we can put it back if the member sends a valid counter-notice.

We then tell the member whose content we removed, using the email address on their account. We may send them a copy of your notice, including your name and contact details, so they can understand the claim and respond. The member can send a counter-notice if they believe the removal was a mistake (see section 6).

If your notice is missing some required elements but identifies the work, the material and how to reach you, we will promptly contact you to help you complete it.

6. Counter-notices

If we removed your content because of a copyright notice and you believe it was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified, you can send a counter-notice to our designated agent (see section 4). If you email, put "Counter-notice" in the subject line.

To be valid under the DMCA, your counter-notice must include all of the following:

We will send your full counter-notice, including your name, postal address and phone number, to the person who sent the original notice.

When we receive a valid counter-notice, we send a copy to the person who sent the original notice and tell them that we will restore the material, or stop disabling access to it, in 10 business days unless they file a court action. We then restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice. We will not restore it if, before then, our agent receives notice that the original sender has filed a court action seeking to stop you from posting the material on BizMeet.

If we cannot restore the material ourselves, for example because the file no longer exists, we will tell you, and you may add it again once the waiting period ends.

7. Misrepresentations

Take care before sending a notice or counter-notice. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that content infringes, or that content was removed by mistake or misidentification, can be liable for the damages this causes. Those damages include costs and attorneys' fees incurred by the member whose content was targeted, by the copyright owner or its licensee, or by BizMeet.

If you are not sure whether content infringes your rights, or whether your own use is allowed, you may want to speak with a lawyer first.

8. Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe copyrights, in appropriate circumstances.

When we close an account, we cancel its BizMeet subscription through Google Play so it does not renew. The Terms of Service explain what happens to subscriptions and unused extras when we close an account.

We keep an internal record of the valid copyright notices we receive against each account, and we use that record, along with the facts of each case, to decide whether a member is a repeat infringer. A notice that was withdrawn, or where we restored the material after a counter-notice and no court action was filed, does not count against the member. We may also close an account after a single notice if the infringement is serious or clearly intentional.

A member whose account we close under this policy may not create a new account, as the Terms of Service explain.

9. Trademark complaints

If you believe a profile or other content on BizMeet uses your trademark in a way that confuses people, or that falsely suggests a link to your business, email contact@bizmeetapp.org with "Trademark complaint" in the subject line. Please include:

BizMeet accounts are personal accounts only. Members may name a company they work for or run and describe their work there. That kind of accurate description is usually not a trademark problem. Brand or company accounts are not allowed.

When we receive a complete complaint, we review it. We may remove or edit the content, tell the member about the complaint, and give them a chance to respond. We may ask either side for more information.

10. Impersonation and use of your likeness

Members may not pretend to be another person or business, or use someone else's photos or name as their own. This includes claiming to recruit, hire, raise money or sell for a company they do not represent, and using a company's name or logo in a job offer or investment pitch in a way that suggests the company is making, backing or endorsing it. The Community Guidelines set out these rules.

If you see a profile that uses your photo, your name or your business's identity without permission, you can tell us in one of two ways:

In the app. Open that member's profile or your chat with them, tap More (⋮), then tap Report and choose Fake profile. You can then choose to block the member as well.

By email. If you are not a BizMeet member, or you want to give us more detail, email contact@bizmeetapp.org with "Impersonation" in the subject line. Include the details listed in section 3 under "Helping us find the material". Also tell us what shows that the photo, name or business is yours, for example a link to your official website or your public professional profile. Please do not send us copies of ID documents.

If someone on BizMeet offers jobs, contracts or investments in your company's name without permission, email contact@bizmeetapp.org with "Impersonation" in the subject line. Tell us which company you represent and how we can confirm that, for example from a page on the company's official website. Include the details listed in section 3 under "Helping us find the material", and any messages, emails or links the person sent. You can tell us even if the offer moved to email or another app after it started on BizMeet.

We review reports and aim to act promptly. We may remove the photos or content, or remove the account. We do not tell the reported member who reported them. We share a reporter's identity only in the limited cases our Safety Policy and Safety Tips describes, such as with the reporter's permission or when the law requires it. If you report that someone is using your photos, your name or your company's name, the member may be able to tell who complained from what we remove.

If someone has shared an intimate image of you without your consent, use the separate removal process described in Safety Policy and Safety Tips. It is open to non-members too.

11. Report misuse of the BizMeet name

Our official website is https://bizmeetapp.org. We offer the BizMeet app only through official app stores. It is available on Google Play. We sell subscriptions and packs only through the app store's own checkout, never through direct payment links, gift cards or payment apps.

BizMeet does not hire members, post jobs, pay members or charge anyone for work. We have no recruiters, agents or partners who offer jobs, gigs or investments for us. We do not send messages in BizMeet chats, and we never sell verified badges or accounts. Real emails from BizMeet come only from addresses that end in the same domain name as our website, such as contact@bizmeetapp.org. Any person, profile, message, email, website or app that says otherwise is not us.

If you see a website, app, social media account or ad that uses the BizMeet name or logo and is not ours, or that asks you to pay BizMeet outside the app store, please tell us at contact@bizmeetapp.org. The same applies to anyone who offers you a job, a paid task or an investment "from BizMeet", or who says they work for BizMeet support. A link or screenshot helps us investigate. If you lost money, our Safety Policy and Safety Tips lists where to report the scam.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page.
